The Hustlers

Tis' a true tale written and lived by yours truly! Hey, we all have a past!

The Hustlers

Mona and me we’d set em’ up

pull a draft and look in the eye.

Rack em’ tight and break em’ hard,

our game was low and sly.

Those sailors never knew what was comin’

we’d smile and charm them sweet,

The trap set sinking one by one,

chalk up then turn on the heat.

They'd come in town from sailing far

and look for a draft and smile.

We gave em’ what they wanted,

then took the extra mile!

(Chorus)

“Moan for us Mona” they'd say and

she'd wink and nod her head,

I’d rack em’ tight and break em’ hard

Not another word need be said.

One by one we'd sink em',

taking all within their pockets,

Then send them drunkin’ heads hangin’ low

to ships back at the docks.

“Moan for us Mona” they'd say and

she'd wink and nod her head,

I’d rack em’ tight and break em’ hard

while they drank another pint.

Then one day a hustler came in sayin’

he'd take us for all we had.

But carrying a big stick and braggin’

wouldn’t help this sorry lad!

With dollar bills between "the girls"

and fresh lipstick on to tease,

we told that sailing hustler

to break his balls as he would please!

He chalked it up and stood down low and

pulled back a mighty draw,

Then sank a few, but those who knew

said he choked from what he saw…

It might have been low it might have been sly

but we knew that game was ours.

The hustler "never had a chance"

they said 'sittin' at the bar.

We both had crispy Benjamin's

peeking out between the “girls”

Our sailor had it comin’…

His sails we did unfurl!

Moan for us Mona they'd say and

she'd wink and nod her head

Them sailor boys from afar

never knew what was ahead!
