Time

Time

Is on my side-yes it is. The bluesy riff coming out of Mick Jagger’s mouth comes to mind.

When I was a child time seemed to pass so slowly. What time are we going? What time is dinner? When can we go to the park, beach? The answers were never suitable-it always seemed like there would be too much wasted time passing between the question and the need for an immediate response.

Time

Time now passes with abruptness-sometimes almost unforgiving. We wake, we break the fast of night, we exercise, do a few errands and almost daily attempt to fit more into the remaining hours then what should be possible. Life is like that now-we have so many choices, so many options to fill every waking moment that it seems wasteful to fit in-rest.

Time

One definition of time is “an indefinite period”. Time is indefinite, what we choose to do with the time we are given is not indefinite. We are young when we are young. “Young at heart” is a wonderful trait to possess, but our youth-those years when life should be carefree and filled with awe and wonder-escape all too soon in the span of a human’s time on Earth. George Bernard Shaw’s famous quote, “Youth is wasted on the young” rang callous when I was in my twenties. What was I wasting anyway?

Time

Time is a precious gift. Time with my husband, time with my children, time to listen to all six of my granddaughters, time to study God’s Word, time to practice music, time to appreciate the beauty and wonder of His creation, time to learn a new skill, time to read a new book, time to archive family memories, time to quite literally stop and smell the roses.

Take time to make the most of your time.
