I See God In...

...And God said that it was good. Genesis 1:9

I imagine most of us know the first few words of Louis Armstrong’s song, “What A Wonderful World” but if you can’t quite remember here are the first few lines: I see trees of green, red roses too I see them bloom for me and you And I think to myself what a wonderful world...

“And I think to myself, what a wonderful world”...how sweet are those words? Louis Armstrong’s classic tune is one that paints a beautiful picture of our world as he sings about trees, flowers that bloom, blue skies, blessed days and sacred nights. I’ll bet many of us have danced to that song whether at a wedding or otherwise special occasion.

The lyrics speak of an inner most need for connection...whether through a handshake translated into an ‘I love you’, or the affirming sounds of a newborn baby crying, promising a new generation will go on, Armstrong's song sings the simplest blessing..."and I think to myself, what a wonderful world." Life in all its simplest beauty as God planned it to be in one little number that has stood the test of time.

If you aren’t quite sure of His intentions take a moment to check out the very first chapter of Genesis in The Bible. Our amazing Almighty God, created the day and night, the waters and the sky, the land masses, all vegetation, the stars and planets, every land, sea and air creature and then...mankind!

Do you remember what His response was after each day of creation? You are right no matter the version- “And God said it was good”.

Can I get an Amen?!

‘But wait ‘, you might say, ‘the world isn’t like that now’.

You know what, yes it is.

Oh I know, I know and it scares me too. The news, politics, crime, storms, poverty, depravity, we all know our world is fallen but can we just take a moment and acknowledge the good in life? Where as an example are you seeing, God? When was the last time you actually, physically stopped and smelled the roses? (I did that today at Costco!).

Let’s dig deeper. I’ll start: I see God in... The majesty of His Creation...(living in The Rockies makes this easy!) Amazing sunsets Starlit nights The breeze blowing through the pines outside my window Worship lyrics that break me Answered prayer Unanswered prayer Testimonies My journey My marriage

My kids My grandchildren My friendships In service In kindness In hugs In reconciliation In hearing, “I forgive you” In saying, “I forgive you” In kissing boo boos In tucking someone in In being tucked in In my veggie garden year after year In giving to those in need In the smiles of those who don’t know they’re in need And so much more!

Can you add to this list? Are you willing to share? "And I think to myself, what a wonderful world!"

Prayer Dear Lord, I see You. I know You see me too. Thank You Elohim. I deserve nothing and yet, You give me everything. Amen
